All are welcome to the 21st annual Fellowship of Isis (FOI) Goddess Festival in Chicago! It takes place Saturday, October 4, at the ManKind Project Building, 1900 W. Fulton Street, Chicago, IL 60612 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (On-site registration begins at 9 a.m.)
Sponsored by the members and friends of the Chicago-based FOI Lyceums of Eleusis, Alexandria, and Karnak; and the Iseum of Hathor-Neith-MahaLakshmi as well as the Life Force Arts Center, this year’s Goddess Festival is dedicated to the goddesses Kwan-Yin, Nu-Kwa, Amaterasu opo mi Kami, and Hsi-Wang Mu; the Main Ritual honoring those goddesses, and the memory of the late Chicago FOI Archpriestess-Hierophant Rt. Rev. Deena Butta, will be “The Awakening of the Golden Phoenix,” from the Late Lady Olivia Robertson’s liturgy booklet, Melusina.
“The Awakening of the Golden Phoenix” is the last festival liturgy that our beloved Archpriestess-Hierophant Deena Butta selected before her untimely death in 2013. It ties in with the first of the FOI Conventions and Goddess Festival liturgies celebrated in Chicago beginning with “Initiation of the Pylons” back in 1994. Deena deemed it best to have a thread of connection between the yearly Goddess Festival liturgies and the spiritual energies we’re collectively working with as members of Chicago FOI. This Festival is dedicated to Deena and her vision of continuing FOI Chicago as the spiritual heart of Goddess worship in our great, diverse city.
Activities for the day-long October 4 Festival include:
- Awakening the Second Chakra
- Communing with Isis of Ten Thousand Names, Kwan-Yin, the Milky Way, and the Hyades
- Reconnecting with spiritual family and community, and meeting like-minded people
- Raising your vibratory level and discovering your source of inner will
- Experiencing the Himalayan singing bowls as performed by Chicago sound healer, Edward Farnham
- Celebrating autumn
- Remembering our Ancestors, the Mighty Dead, and all those who have gone before us
- Dancing, meditating, learning, celebrating!
To help us meet these objectives, a variety of workshops will be held throughout the day on a variety of spiritual subjects which may or may not directly relate to the Main Ritual’s theme. If you’re interested in attending and would like to present a 15- to 25-minute workshop, submit your proposal before August 31 to Demetria Nanos at email@example.com.
Early registration is $30 per person before September 17; otherwise, it’s $40. Sadly, no electric payment system is available yet so checks and money orders can be mailed to Demetria Nanos at 6122 S. Kenwood Ave., Chicago, IL 60637-2840. $40 cash can also be paid at the door the day of the event. Registration fee includes coffee, tea, juice, and light snacks. A simple catered lunch can be ordered for an additional $10 per person, with a vegetarian option. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Parking is free and abundant outside the ManKind Project building–a rarity in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood! Huzzah!
I hope to see you there! Goddess bless!
