Announcing the 26th Annual Fellowship of Isis Goddess Conference and Festival in Chicago!

Calling all Kemetic and Sumerian Polytheists, Reconstructionists, Polytheist Pagans, Tameran Wiccans, ceremonial magicians, Fellowship of Isis (FOI) members worldwide, devotees of the Gods of the Fertile Crescent, and friends! All are welcome to the 26th Annual Fellowship of Isis Goddess Conference and Festival in Chicago! I’m very excited to announce that, for the first time in our FOI Chicago community’s history, the event will span multiple days: Thursday, October 3, 2019 through Friday, October 5, and will feature a Pagan Cabaret! The location this year is the city’s acclaimed Prop Thtr, located at 3502 North Elston Avenue on the city’s north side.

This annual Conference and Festival is sponsored by the Chicago-based FOI Lyceum of Alexandria-Mishigami, the Iseum of the Rekhet Akhu, Temple Kheper Em-Inu, the Life Force Arts Foundation, and the amazing folks at Alchemy Arts Bookstore. Thank you for your support!

Here’s the schedule of the two evenings and the Main Day of the Conference and Festival:

We kick off in high academic and theatrical style on the evening of Thursday, October 3, at 7 p.m. with “Dionysos & The Muses: Performance as Transcendence and Transformation.” We pay homage to Dionysos as God of the Theater, madness, realization, and transformation with a PowerPoint presentation and ritualized dance performances.

The Dionysian energies kick up a notch the following evening, Friday, October 4, with the debut of our Pagan Cabaret! Featuring burlesque and other kinds of dancers of many gender expressions, this will be an adults-only (21 years of age and older) night of entertainment (running from 7 p.m. to approximately 11:30 p.m.). The official Festival Reception will be included as part of the evening’s assortment of pleasantries, along with workshops highlighting various aspects of the cults of Astarte, Aphrodite, Adonis, Hermaphroditus, Hermes, and Eros. Vendors will be welcome to sell their metaphysical wares and divination consultants (Tarot, Rune, astrology folks) will be on hand to give readings as well!

Saturday, October 5, is the Festival’s Main Day. On-site registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The day-long Conference with multiple presenters of workshops and mini-rituals begins at 10 a.m. sharp. The apex of ritual activity will be the 5:45 p.m. enactment of the Divine Liturgy, which honors the Goddess Astarte this year (ritual no. 10 from the late Lady Olivia Robertson’s FOI clergy tome, Urania: Ceremonial Magic of the Goddess): “The Magic of Astarte and Saturn.”

Vendors will also be welcome to sell their wares on Saturday; given the space limitations, however, please book your tables as early as possible by contacting Rev. Demetria Nanos at All vendors will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and can have the luxury of setting up their booths as early as October 1.

We’re Seeking Workshop Presenters for October 5

For the Conference preceding the Divine Liturgy that Saturday, we’re seeking 5 or 6 different folks to serve as workshop presenters. Topics can be related to devotional,  magical, or divinatory practices that somehow tie into the cults of the Deities honored in the Liturgy (e.g., Astarte, Ashtoreth, Saturn, Kronos) or the lands those Deities were originally honored in (Sumer, Canaan, Greece, etc.). Styles can be academic or informal. We will have computer equipment, screens, projectors, etc., for more formal presentations. Dance performances or mini-rituals are welcome too! Time slots can range from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on what it is you’d like to offer the attendees.

If you’d like to submit a workshop proposal, please email me at no later than Monday, August 5.
